We are delighted to inform you of the opening of the exhibition Vitrea. Contemporary Italian Art Glass at the Quadreria of the Triennale Milano, the latest in the series of shows on ‘Mestieri d’Arte & Design. Crafts Culture’: four exhibitions that offer an unprecedented perspective on the contemporary applied arts.

Vitrea is an opportunity to get to know the finest artistic productions that represent Italian mastery in the working of art glass today: the fruit of great manual skill, passion and creativity, the excellence in craftsmanship of which this country boasts is evoked through the works of some leading artists in the contemporary world of glass, as well as those of great master glassworkers, furnaces and art studios.

The works on display, diverse in their technique, poetics and function, represent the variety of contemporary creativity in the production of glass: from sculpture to lighting, from figurative works to stained glass, with objects made from blown, lampworked, solid, fused, mosaic and moulded glass, along with works in which glass is combined with other materials, such as iron and wood.

The Quadreria of Triennale Milano will once again be mounted as a modern version of the Renaissance cabinet of curiosities: in the display designed by Studiometria and illuminated by iGuzzini, the beauty of the transparency of these objects, their perfect proportions (absolute forms), their lightness and the virtuosity of master glassworkers are celebrated and compared. A happy encounter between hand and mind.
