Triennale Milano and Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte continue with their annual collaboration, aimed at presenting in the space of the Quadreria the cycle of exhibitions Mestieri d’Arte & Design. Crafts Culture: four exhibitions that propose a new point of view on contemporary applied arts. After Mirabilia, curated by Alberto Cavalli, which brought together a series of examples of high Milanese craftsmanship, and Vitrea, an exhibition dedicated to glass curated by Jean Blanchaert, Fittile -curated by Ugo La Pietra - offers a fascinating journey through Italian artistic ceramics: an ancestral know-how, widespread throughout the national territory with types, techniques, materials, workshops, authors of a wealth and diversity unique in the world.
This extraordinary selection of works comes from the great expertise of Ugo La Pietra, artist, architect and designer, historical reference for the Italian applied arts and for ceramics in particular: a territory that has always loved and frequented, enhancing the different areas of excellence, working side by side with artisans and creating memorable collections. From the raw material, through the various processes, symbols and forms, the ceramic has exalted the characters of the different ethnic groups, so that we can say that, also thanks to ceramics, we can read the human evolution to the present day, through the contaminations that "different cultures" have faced over the centuries.
Today, in Italy, the pottery referred to the applied arts is expressed through an increasing number of artists and artisans almost always linked, directly or indirectly, to the areas of tradition: those territories where many still reproduce with particular talent works belonging to the past.
The works presented in this exhibition encompass the creations of meaningful authors who express their ability, their skill and an undoubted personal expressive language.
