Triennale Milano and Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte are continuing their annual collaboration, focused on presenting in the space of the Quadreria the series of exhibitions ‘Mestieri d’Arte & Design. Crafts Culture’, four shows that offer a completely new perspective on the contemporary applied arts.

Vitrea. Vetro italiano contemporaneo d’autore (‘Vitrea: Contemporary Italian Art Glass’), curated by Jean Blanchaert, is an opportunity to get to know the finest artistic productions, objects that represent Italian mastery in the working of art glass today: the fruit of manual skill, passion and creativity, this artisanal excellence of our country is evoked through the works of some of the leading figures in the contemporary world of the art of glass, as well as of great master glassworkers, manufacturers and art studios.

The works on display, differing from one another in technique, aesthetics and function, reflect the contemporary creative variety in the production of glass: from sculpture to lighting, from figurative works to stained glass and objects made of blown, lampworked, solid, fused, mosaic and moulded glass, along with works in which glass is combined with other materials, such as iron and wood.

The Quadreria of the Triennale di Milano will once again be mounted as a modern version of the Renaissance cabinet of curiosities: in the display designed by Studiometria and illuminated by iGuzzini, the beauty of the transparency of these objects, their perfect proportions (absolute forms), their lightness and the virtuosity of master glassworkers are celebrated and compared. A successful, often telepathic encounter between hand and mind.
