The 2016 European Artistic Crafts Days took place in conjunction with the 21st edition of the Milan Triennial Exhibition of Decorative Arts and Modern Architecture entitled "21st Century - Design after Design".
On 2 and 8 April 2016, “GemaLab” workshops took place in the evocative location of the “Porcellino”, within the Fabbrica del Vapore. Master craftspeople from the Cinque Vie district met the young students of Istituto Cavalieri, involving them into several craft workshops aimed at a clever orientation of young generations. The workshops were made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Cologni Foundation, the Associazione 5 Vie and SIAM 1838-Società d'Incoraggiamento d'Arti e Mestieri, and the support of Vacheron Constantin, Geneva’s historical fine watchmaker and long-standing patron of artistic crafts in Europe.
On 2 and 3 April 2016, the much-loved Milanese house-museum Poldi Pezzoli hosted children and family labs supported by the Cologni Foundation cooperating with the Museum on the theme of design. The educational activities were set within the context of the “Quasi segreti” exhibition (Museo Poldi Pezzoli, 17 March - 21 April 2016), curated by Beppe Finessi.
On the weekend of 16 and 17 April 2016, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile, some selected studios in the Cinque Vie district were exceptionally open to guests and visitors, who could admire the secrets of a unique savoir faire that combines tradition and innovation with artistic mastery.
