The Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana presented the volume “Artefici di bellezza. I mestieri d’arte nella moda italiana”, published by Marsilio Editori, at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan. The book is an unprecedented exploration of the sophisticated artisanal essence of Italian fashion. The volume was curated by Paolo Colombo (Professor of History of Political Institutions at the Università Cattolica in Milan), Alberto Cavalli (Director of the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art) and Emanuela Mora (Professor of Sociology of Cultural Processes at the Università Cattolica in Milan).

The research was commissioned by the Cologni Foundation to the “Arti e Mestieri” Research Centre in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Fashion and Cultural Production (Modacult) of the Università Cattolica in Milan.

“Artefici di bellezza” is published by Marsilio Editori with the precious contribution of Fondazione Cariplo and under the aegis of the City of Milan and of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. The volume explores the history of Italian fashion from an unusual perspective, which usually does not fall under the spotlight of the fashion industry: a world made of tailors, model makers, embroiderers, weavers, dyers, lace makers and other master craftspeople whose dedication contributes to the creation of quintessential Italian quality and style.

The round table was moderated by Paola Bottelli, journalist of the Italian financial daily newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.

Speakers included:
