4, 11, 18 and 25 May are the new dates of the 12th edition of the Festival dell'Ascensione, a tribute to the European sacred repertoire, under the artistic direction of Giuditta Comerci. The 2025 edition, promoted by Noema Associazione per lo Studio e la Promozione della Cultura Musicale in collaboration with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte, will take place entirely at Milan's Basilica of San Calimero. This year, the Festival dell'Ascensione takes a short jubilee journey, starting from the less usual Middle Ages and aiming at Rome, at the Papal Chapel, at the 5th centenary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina: this journey will therefore be led starting with forms, sounds and colours from late 14th century central Italy; it will continue on Josquin Desprez's desire to reach the Papal Chapel, and will stop in Rome among the forms of motets, masses and spiritual madrigals by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.

A happy and important collaboration also marks this edition of the Festival. The work that characterises the coordinated image, “Dissociazione Casuale n.31”, was in fact created ad hoc for Noema and the Festival dell’Ascensione by the Turin artist and designer Giampiero Bodino, artistic director of the Richemont Group. This work forcefully and succinctly summarises what drives Noema to persist in proposing a cycle of concerts dedicated to the ancient repertoire, and which Giampiero Bodino himself evoked in one of his interviews: modernity is the result of a thought that has understood and absorbed its history.
