On Saturday, 29 September, on the occasion of the first edition of “manifatture aperte” (open factories), manufacturing centers in and near Milan will open their doors to the public.

The event is organised by Milan's Municipality in collaboration with the World Manufacturing Forum, the platform for the promotion of industrial culture worldwide. A day of guided tours, workshops and meetings to discover the places of industry, craftsmanship, and technology 4.0 in and around Milan.

Visitors will be able to choose their itinerary among the over 70 businesses taking part in the initiative, from fashion to technology, from home furnishings to luxury craftsmanship. An opportunity to discover fascinating, often secluded places, where the “culture of making” is active in various working processes, leading up to the creation of high-value finished products.

The pathways meet all tastes and needs, from design to new digital technologies, from bicycle and car factories up to aluminium guitar workshops, including historical artistic craft ateliers, handing down traditional savoir-faire from one generation to the next.
