Exhibitions, workshops, conferences, concerts, seminars, performances, educational opportunities, both face-to-face and online: the Fondazione Giorgio Cini is not letting itself be stopped from organizing cultural activities in 2021, the year in which it celebrates 70 years of existence. Notwithstanding the pandemic, the calendar will in fact be packed with events that range from the history of art to music, theatre and religious studies. They will include: over 30 meetings between conferences, days of study, workshops, seminars and presentations; a new season of concerts at the Auditorium ‘Lo Squero’; seven new exhibition projects between the Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore and Palazzo Cini; more than 20 publishing projects; various study grants and an award, the 8th iteration of the Benno Geiger Poetry Translation Prize. Among the most important events of the year we can single out the major project of high craftsmanship Homo Faber: Crafting a more human future. Living Treasures of Europe and Japan, organized for the second time by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, in partnership with the Fondazione Cini, the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and the Japan Foundation. In the spaces on the Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore, from 9 to 26 September, visitors will be able to discover masterpieces, exhibitions, installations and workshops devoted to the activity of master artisans from Europe and a selection of Japanese Living National Treasures.
