Admissions are now open for the three-year course of high artistic specialisation at the Scuola dell'Arte della Medaglia of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato starting in October 2024. Fondazione Cologni has always supported the intentions of this historic institution, unique in the world, which is present on scuolemestieridarte.it, an orientation portal for training in the craft, which includes the best institutes in the sector in Italy.

The ordinary course includes courses in modelling and metalworking techniques related to goldsmithing and silversmithing, such as embossing and chiselling, burin and fire enamelling, as well as the rarer disciplines of glyptics and art graphics, not to mention restoration and wax modelling. The course also provides skills in new technologies and 3D computer graphics for the applied arts, such as three-dimensional prototyping and moulding. The ordinary course lasts three years and includes approximately 4,500 hours of training per year, almost all of which are held in the laboratory, according to a training-on-the-job teaching method. The entrance examination consists of a test in life drawing and bas-relief modelling from a plaster bust.

The tests will take place from the second half of September 2024, while the courses will be held from the end of October 2024 to July 2025. The 14 available places will be allocated on the basis of merit. Both the entrance examination and the courses of all three years of higher education are free of charge. At the end of the three-year course, students receive a certificate that opens up various employment opportunities for them in various areas of the art professions: sculpture, art graphics, handicrafts and applied arts, as well as coin-medal design and sculptural prototyping.
Apply by submitting the completed application form by 10 September 2024.
