The Craft Shopping Guide "Napoli su misura", a project commissioned by the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte and published by Gruppo Editoriale, is a poetic yet practical map of a selection of Neapolitan artisan excellence. The presentation of the guide was hosted, in the heart of Naples, at Fondazione Made in Cloister.
"Napoli su misura. Craft Shopping Guide" illustrates 50 selected ateliers and craft workshops, that represent a treasure to be discovered and communicated, and whose faces, stories and cult works are told. 240 pages, in 2 languages (Italian/English), in an elegant pocket format, with more than 240 photos by Dario Garofalo.
From the nativity scenes of San Gregorio Armeno to the master tailors of the elegant Chiaia district, the gloves of the Rione Sanità, the lively stores of Spaccanapoli and Via San Biagio dei Librai, the coral of Torre del Greco and the wooden inlay of Sorrento. Plus master luthiers, ceramists, jewelers, shoemakers, ties, cufflinks and umbrellas, 'fire craftspeople' and 'doll doctors.' An unprecedented itinerary from the blinding light of the gulf in the shadow of Vesuvius to the splendid island of Capri represents the most authentic soul and mirror of Naples.
The event for the presentation of the guide was hosted at the Made in Cloister Foundation, a contemporary art institution strongly supported by Davide de Blasio and Rosa Alba Impronta, which saw the Chiostro di Santa Caterina a Formiello come alive with the interesting speeches of: Davide de Blasio, director and founder of Made in Cloister; Alba Cappellieri, professor of design, Politecnico di Milano; Valter Luca De Bartolomeis, architect and designer, director of Istituto Caselli, Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte; Ilaria D'Uva, CEO of D'Uva (Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro); Matteo Parigi Bini, publisher, Gruppo Editoriale; Emilia Petruccelli, co-founder of EDIT Napoli; and Raffaele Antonelli, master tailor. The event was moderated by Alberto Cavalli, general director of the Fondazione Cologni.
