Until 30 September, the Antico Convento dei Cappuccini in Grottaglie (TA), will host the exhibition “TERRA identità, luogo, materia”, (EARTH Identity, Place, Matter) created within the great 2018 Mostra della Ceramica (Ceramics Exhibition).
Forty-six works from all over the world decline the art of ceramics, a material that has been processed in Grottaglie since time immemorial: clay turning into terracotta, then into a high-end craftsmanship object, thus becoming the token of a proud identity.
For this edition, Gabriella Sacchi, a Milanese Master ceramist and MAM-Maestro d’Arte e Mestiere 2018, was awarded a prize for her work “Appunti di viaggio 2” (Travel Notes 2).
The extraordinary historical frame hosting the exhibition reinforces its great evocative power and acts as a strong pull factor.
Grottaglie boasts a whole district entirely committed to ceramics-making and is included in the thirty-seven Italian Ceramics Cities directory. Through this exhibition, launched in 1971, the city intends to pay homage to the “intelligent hands” of its territory.
