Origin, the crafts council’s annual contemporary craft fair, showcases during London Design Festival located in the vibrant and creative East End, In a purpose-built pavilion within Old Spitalfields Market, for one week and over the weekend from 22nd to 28th of September.
Origin is in its sixth year and has established itself as the UK’s principal selling event for individual contemporary craft makers. In 2011 Origin present about 200 makers with a diverse range of craft which are ceramics, furniture, interiors, metalwork and glass, to fashion accessories, Non-precious and precious Jewellery, knitwear, millinery, paperwork, wood and woven textiles. They all have unique design with highest quality handcrafted pieces.

These selected 200 new and established contemporary craft makers across the world have been chosen to participate in this exhibition.
The selection of exhibitors was made by a distinguished panel of galleries, retail, craft, consultancy, design and journalism for originality of ideas, craft-skills, quality, and commercial awareness - and to ensure excellent representation across the categories.

From the Interior section, Michelle Griffiths, professional artist for interiors and wearable art has come to Origin for the second time. Her work explores the natural rhythm of traditional Shibori techniques in order to create contemporary three-dimensional sculptures.
