As part of its initiative "Il tempo degli orologi", Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan is presenting a cycle of events dedicated to time and its measurement, organised with the invaluable support of Orologeria Pisa.

The Cologni Foundation is organising two important evenings titled Aperitivo con il maestro on 14 February and 21 March. They represent an opportunity for visitors to meet two outstanding master artisans of high watchmaking who will discuss their meticulous work through illustrations and a personal account of their craft. The dialogue related to this fascinating world will be led by the Director of the Cologni Foundation, Alberto Cavalli. The first event (14 February) features the special guest Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, a great master horologist from Geneva famous for his extraordinary complications. Recognised as one of the finest craftsmen of mechanical watches, he has been awarded none less than seven times with the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. In 2014, he received the distinction of Talent du luxe et de la création, and in 2017 the Prix Gaïa, an honorary award in watchmaking. He, his wife and their two sons run the company Atelier Genevois Horlogerie (Agenhor) in Geneva, where the 18th-century tradition of cabinotiers is continued along contemporary lines. The Atelier is specialised in the conception, development and production of complex watch mechanisms for great names in the watchmaking world, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Winston, Chopard, Fabergé and Hermès. Here, the highest technical beauty meets the enchantment of poetry.

Following the conversation, a guided tour of the Poldi Pezzoli's magnificent watch collection will take place, ending with an aperitif.

The second Aperitivo con il maestro takes place on 21 March, featuring Romeo Ferraris, a celebrated maestro of engine mechanics and a great watchmaking enthusiast. This exceptionally talented man is known to fans as il mago di Opera, "the magician from Opera" in reference to the town outside Milan where his workshop is located.

Museo Poldi Pezzoli is selling tickets for 10 euros per event. Each event takes place from 18:00 to 21:00.
