Founded in 1931, the first market-exhibition of handicrafts in Italy, MIDA intertwines its history with that of a region that still makes Florence and Tuscany the most suitable territory to enhance, develop and do research in this sector. Where craftsmanship and creativity have traditionally played an important role in the economy and in the socio-cultural fabric. With the aim of outlining the present constellation of craftsmanship and its future prospects, MIDA presents the diversity of the artisan world, which develops in a continuous dialectic between the enhancement of ancient knowledge and high-tech technologies. The intelligent hands of tradition are flanked by self-productions, design, and emerging forms of digital craftsmanship.
