On 4 and 5 February last, on the premises of Cometa (Como), craft workshops of bookbinding organized by the Fondazione Cologni were held by artisans from the historic Milanese bottega ‘Conti Borbone’. The initiative falls within the framework of the different actions carried out in the context of AD HOC, a project selected by the social enterprise Con i Bambini under the aegis of the Fund against Educational Poverty in Children and Youth, co-financed by the Fondazione De Agostini and coordinated by Cometa Formazione SCS.
Thirty students were beneficiaries of the project. Aged between 12 and 17, and divided into four groups to ensure the lesson was held in total safety, they discovered the secrets of the ancient craft of bookbinding under the careful guidance of master craftsmen Gabriele and Angelo Marchesi. The young people were able to try their hand at binding with needle and thread and the realization of the cover of a personalized notebook, with paper chosen for the purpose by the artisans. They were then able to take the small and precious article home with them. A moment of in-depth learning, between engagement, manual skill and know-how, with a good measure of fun!
