On the occasion of the exhibition “20th century Italian Jewels”, held at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan from 24 November 2016 to 20 March 2017, a series of workshops dedicated to young people aged 15 to 26 are organised in collaboration with the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana, since 1985 a point of reference in specialised training in the fields of goldsmithing and jewellery.
On Saturday 28 January, Saturday 8 February and Saturday 18 March a teacher from the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana guides the students in the creation of a seal ring using the wax modelling technique. Each session lasts two-hours (morning workshop from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.; afternoon workshop from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.). At the end of each workshop, the group is accompanied on a visit of the exhibition.
The workshops are free (reservation required by the Friday preceding the day of the workshop; tel. +39 02 45473805, max 10 people per group) thanks to the support of the Cologni Foundation. Each participant receives a copy of the volume “Breve guida alle tecniche in gioielleria”.
After the training, the participants are given the opportunity to visit the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana, where they can transform their wax ring model into silver.
On the same dates, a demonstration of goldsmithing craft is held by another teacher of the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana. At 11.30 a.m., after the demonstration, the teacher accompanies visitors (maximum 15 people per group) to see the exhibition. Reservation required by the preceding Friday. The guided visit is free for all holders of a regular museum entrance ticket. Tel. +39 02 45473805).
