The Aula Magna of Milan’s Cattolica University played host to the international conference entitled "Europe’s Great Artistic Craft Professions. Outstanding Métiers d'Art in the Countries of the European Union". The event, promoted by the Cologni Foundation with the Cattolica University and the Milan Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the roots of the "know how", in search of the values of excellence in Italian and European artistic craft professions of past and present, but also the future.

The conference provided an opportunity for presenting a new study into high level craftsmanship in Europe conducted by the "Arts and professions” Research Centre: "Europe’s Great Artistic Craft Professions. Outstanding Métiers d'Art in the countries of the European Union", published by Vita e Pensiero.
It was chaired by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, former President of the French Republic and a time honored protagonist in the protection and promotion of the artistic craft professions in France and Europe.
