“Homo Faber” is a cycle of meetings promoted by the “Arti e Mestieri” Research Centre and by the Cologni Foundation for the Métiers d’Art. This meeting was dedicated to artistic crafts in the theatre. The guests of honour were Ezio Frigerio, stage set designer, and Franca Squarciapino, costume designer. Frigerio and Squarciapino have left their mark in the history of Italian theatre productions. Partners in life as well as in work, the couple have collaborated with Giorgio Strehler at the Piccolo Teatro throughout his entire career.
Frigerio has also explored other dimensions of the stage: ballet, with Rudol’f Nureev (Romeo and Juliet in 1979), many operas at La Scala theatre and in the world, television and cinema (with Squarciapino) in important productions like the 1991 Academy Award nominee “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Rappeau.
