A precious treasure chest in the heart of Venice: Starhotels hosts masterpieces by Venetian Masters of Art, a homage to Italian excellence craftsmanship

On the occasion of the important “Homo Faber. Crafting a More Human Future” event, sponsored in Venice by Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, Starhotels organises an exquisite exhibition of works by Venetian Art Masters at the Splendid Venice-Starhotels Collezione, a symbol of the most exclusive hospitality, now becoming a precious treasure chest of Italian High Craftsmanship.

The initiative is taking place within the Starhotels Collezione “La Grande Bellezza” (The Great Beauty) project, in cooperation with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, Gruppo Editoriale and OmA-Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte in Florence. The project is dedicated by the most prestigious Italian hotel chain to supporting and promoting excellence craftsmanship, the unparalleled legacy and foundation of Made in Italy, which the whole world loves and longs for.

The Starhotels Collection, real style icons in the heart of the most beautiful cities worldwide, express the authentic soul of the cities hosting them and are unique testimonials of tradition, history, and beauty.

The exquisite, refined halls of Splendid Venice, a dream home between Rialto and San Marco, become an evocative frame for an exhibition showcasing the “great beauty” through a careful selection of works by important names of Venetian arts and crafts, previously celebrated by the “Venetian Way” photo exhibition at Homo Faber, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.

The images are significantly connected and counterbalanced by the splendid works of the Masters, chosen by Starhotels with the support and advice of Homo Faber's partner Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte: Bruno Barbon (wood carving); Sergio Boldrin (masks, La Bottega dei Mascareri); Gianpaolo Fallani (art printing); Carlo Semenzato (Valese art foundry); Emanuele Bevilacqua (Luigi Bevilacqua weaving); Stefano Nicolao (theatre tailoring); Lucia Costantini (Burano's lacework); Andrea Zilio (Murano's glasswork, Anfora). These are the names of the “magnificent eight” Masters showcasing their works in the elegant and cosy halls of Starhotels Splendid Venice, to the delight of clients and visitors.

Gorgeous Moors carved and painted; fantastic traditional Venetian masks created in accordance with the purest Venetian tradition; screen prints of authorship and precious bronze and brass sculptures in homage to Venice; magnificent handloom velvet fabrics and fabulous stage costumes; the painstaking wonder of needle laces; the great art of glass blowing in beautiful goblets, a symbol of Murano's unparalleled savoir-faire – all these works make up an enchanting gallery of Venetian beauty and excellence craftsmanship.
